Melody Hernandez - Practice Manager
Melody Hernandez was born and raised in New York City, she started her career as dental assistant for Columbia University Dental School. She then worked as an administrative assistant before becoming a practice manager. Her skills set include creatively problem solving with highly developed negotiation skills, while consistently exceeding profit goals. She is primarily proud of establishing a trusting rapport with her team, doctors and most of all patients thus, ensuring positive and productive dental experiences. During her time off she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and exploring new country’s via travel.
Lidia McGarry - Hygienist
Lidia McGarry obtained her degree in Dental Hygiene from The New York City College of Technology. She is confident and highly motivated. Her love goes beyond removing plaque. Her greatest satisfaction is in teaching patients appropriate oral health strategies. She feels very fortunate to be part of this office and it’s team.She enjoys commuting into the city via the S.I. Ferry. Lidia and her husband have a home in Staten Island, where they are raising their two sons. In her spare time she enjoys all the family activities that our city has to offer.
Lisana Aquino - Office Coordinator
Lisana Aquino was born in Harlem, NY and raised in the Dominican Republic since the age of 9. After finishing dental school at UNIBE in D.R., she moved back to NY and found a home as a Dental Assistant and now Office Coordinator at Harlem Dentistry. Dentistry is her passion, she loves to make patients feel comfortable, and explain the benefits of the procedures being performed.
In her free time she enjoys reading, dancing, as well as arts and crafts. Another love of Lisana's is cooking.
Lisana feels she has found in this office the ethics that were taught to her, and an incredible learning opportunity from, in her words, "the best dentist in the state."
Bruce Choy - Head Dental Assistant
Bruce Choy is the Head Dental Assistant. He lives in Yonkers, New York. Bruce was born in Guyana and came to the United States when he was 15 years old. He has a daughter and son which he enjoys spending time with.
His interest in dentistry started in the U.S Navy around June 2000. He graduated from the Naval School of Health Sciences in October 2000. Since then, his dental assistant skills have grown tremendously. Having received his training in the Navy it gave him an advantage over Assistants who have basic training at a traditional dental school. At the Naval school he learned things such as first aid, BLS, and other skills used in battle stations.
Bruce spent a total of 8 years in the US Navy and toured with two ships, one was the USS Trenton and the USNS Detroit. Bruce was stationed at Norfolk, VA and Colts Neck NJ. His overseas travel was exceptional; he visited Spain, Greece, Turkey, and Italy just to name a few. Throughout his enlistment he received many medals such as Navy & Marine Corp Achievement Medal, Navy E Ribbon and Navy Good Conduct. These are three of ten medals/ribbons award to him.
Since joining the office Bruce had expanded his assisting skills in the area of Dental Implants and Orthodontics. Bruce is a great addition to our Dentistry Family and we are lucky to have him.
Katherine Laboy - Dental Assistant
Katherine Laboy was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. She became interested in dentistry in 2004 when she was offered a job with Dentists on Wheels. Prior to joining the Harlem Dentistry team, she also worked in a pediatric dentistry office.
She is a mother of 3 handsome boys and is married to her husband, who is her best friend. On her time off, she loves watching her boys play sports and enjoys going to the gym. She’s been part of the Harlem Dentistry team for close to a year and she considers her colleagues to be more like family than just co-workers.

Lleana Robin - Office Intern
Lleana is our high school office intern. She was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. She decided to become a part of our team because she is interested in a career in the dental field. By having hands on experience, she is learning much about how to help patients and what goes on in a dental practice.
Since joining the office Lleana has learned a sense of responsibility as well as the basics of dental assisting. She enjoys watching the doctors perform procedures and learning some of the science behind dentistry. On her free time she enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing volleyball, and volunteering at the hospital.
